StarTalk Radio Announces New Spin-Off Show: StarTalk All-Stars

Hosted by a revolving slate of all-star scientists and science educators including Bill Nye the Science Guy

(New York, NY – February 29, 2016) Tonight at an exclusive launch party for invited guests and StarTalk Patreon supporters, StarTalk Radio co-creators Neil deGrasse Tyson and Helen Matsos announced the latest expansion in the StarTalk universe: the StarTalk All-Stars podcast.

The new podcast will air on Tuesday nights at 7 pm ET beginning this spring. StarTalk All-Stars will be hosted by a revolving slate of all-star scientists and science educators led by Bill Nye the Science Guy and including Dr. Helen Fisher, Dr. David Grinspoon, Dr. Janna Levin, Dr. Charles Liu, Dr. Amy Mainzer, Dr. Mike Massimino, Dr. Carolyn Porco, Dr. Emily L. Rice, Dr. Seth Shostak, and Dr. Natalie Starkey. These all stars, some of whom have previously guest-hosted on the StarTalk Radio podcast, and all of whom have been guests on the show, will be backed up by regular StarTalk comic co-hosts including Maeve Higgins, Leighann Lord, Eugene Mirman, and Chuck Nice. As of the time of this press release, the guest list remains a closely guarded secret.

The show will feature some of the types of content fans have come to know through listening to StarTalk Radio, including the highly popular Cosmic Queries episode format where fans ask the questions via social media and then the hosts and guest scientists provide the answers, sight unseen.

“We’re going to be trying out some new approaches as well,” said Helen Matsos, the CEO of Curved Light Productions, LLC which produces both podcasts and co-produces StarTalk on the National Geographic Channel. “We want to get even more people talking about science, and so we’re broadening the franchise. More diversity in our hosting and guests – I think it’s safe to say there’s never been a science show hosted by this diverse a group of PhDs!”

“That we can spin off a second podcast blending science with humor and pop culture, is further evidence that science is trending,” added Neil deGrasse Tyson. “I looked around at my fellow scientists and science educators and saw an unplumbed pool of inspiring and enthusiastic talent standing ready to feed the growing, voracious hunger the public has for science.”

StarTalk All-Stars will be carried on startalkradio.net, as well as digitally distributed on iTunes Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn and SoundCloud.

StarTalk All-Stars to be Recorded in Full Video

Additionally, for the first time in StarTalk history, all episodes of StarTalk All-Stars podcast will be video recorded as complete shows. The videos of these shows will be available exclusively online via StarTalk’s new ConnectPal channel, launching on the same day as the new series this spring, launch date TBD. Segments of each episode will be offered for free on YouTube, with early access for StarTalk’s Patreon Patrons.
